Based on true events, Erin Brockovich is the story of an unemployed single mother, desperate to find a job, who manages to get work at an embattled lawfirm. At first, no one at the firm takes her seriously, with her skimpy clothes and earthy manners. That soon changes when she begins to investigate a case involving the Pacific Gas & Electric Company.

Erin discovers that the company is trying to buy land that was contaminated by hexavalent chromium, a deadly toxic waste that the company is improperly and illegally dumping. She also discovers that the chemical is poisoning the residents in the area, killing entire families. As she digs deeper in pursuit of justice, Erin finds herself building a case that would go become one of the biggest class action lawsuits in American history against a multi-billion dollar corporation.
